Horticulture

The New Canaan Garden Club’s Horticulture Committee consists of approximately 40 members who participate in monthly meeting sweeps, area flower shows, garden chats, local garden center visits, hands-on workshops, and an annual plant exchange.

The Horticulture Committee invites all club members to participate in these activities in order to share and promote horticultural knowledge, the love of gardening, and ultimately, to improve the quality of our environment.

Monthly Sweepstakes (Sweeps) are a great way to show off creativity, talents and hard work reaped from our gardens. Sweeps schedules may be found in the club directory.
Unless noted otherwise, Sweeps will be judged by non-club GCA judges and clerks. We use the following point system throughout the year (Sept – June) and acknowledge our
overall winner for the highest number of points accumulated:
1st Place – 5 points
2nd Place – 4 points
3rd Place – 3 points
Honorable Mention – 2 points
Participant – 1 point
