  • New Canaan Land Trust: Story BOOk and Nature Walk

    Join us on Sunday, October 24th for an afternoon in nature to celebrate Halloween and this beautiful time of the year. We’ll start with a short Halloween-themed nature walk and make our way to the council ring at Still Pond Preserve. There, New Canaan Library’s Children Librarian Marie Aspinwall will read a Halloween story and lead a sing-a-long. What a wonderful way to experience the wonder of the changing seasons and Halloween at the Land Trust’s Still Pond Preserve! Costumes are encouraged.

    Appropriate for ages 3-6.

    Sessions at 5:30 P.M - 7:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.

    Get into the Halloween spirit by joining us for this spooktacular celebration, NCNC-style. Learn about and meet some fiendish friends who remind us of All Hallows Eve (spiders, snakes, owls, & more), enjoy making some creepy crafts, and share spooky stories around a cackling (erm, we mean crackling) campfire! Top off the evening with our one-of-a-kind jack-o-lantern experience and you will be destined to have a dreadfully wicked evening! 
    Costumes are encouraged & welcome! 
    Choose from 1 of 2 available time slots:
    Session A: 5:30pm-7:00pm
    Session B: 7:30pm-9:00pm 
    Pre-registration by Wednesday, October 27th, at 4pm is required. 
    Members: $10/person 
    Non-members: $15/person  
    All attendees (children + adults) must purchase a ticket.

    Kyle Riccoboni, floral designer and owner of a new business, Modern Houseplant, will show us how beautiful the winter season can be when we think outside the box. Nature has so many wonderful textures at this time of year. By simply taking a walk outside, or by saving and drying materials from your garden, you can create some beautiful wintry creations. PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIRED TO ATTEND.

    Head to the Homestead to make your holiday wreath, garland for your mantle, or centerpiece using live greenery and other decorative elements.
    We will demonstrate greenery techniques and then you'll get to work on your original creation while enjoying a cocktail and time with friends.

    $85 ($75 for members) OR $350 for table for you and four of your gal-pals.
    Includes all the materials to make your holiday masterpiece + wine (non-alcoholic alternatives too!).

    20 lucky people per session!
