How much do the Gardens in Bloom tickets cost?

Tour tickets purchased prior to June 7, 2023 are $50. Tour tickets purchased on June 7th or 8th are $60 and must be purchase in person at Waveny House in New Canaan. Please see dates and hours below. Preview Party tickets are now sold out. Tickets are non-refundable. Additional donations are always welcomed to help support our Civic Projects. Where can I pick up my ticket and Tour Program?

After purchasing your ticket(s), you will receive a digital receipt. Please bring a paper or digital copy of this receipt with you to pick up your Tour Program. We will be distributing the Tour Programs at our Waveny House Ticket Booth in Waveny Park, 677 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 8, 2023 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Tickets are non-refundable. Your Tour Program will be your “entrance pass” for each garden and will need to be presented to the welcome table at the 4 private gardens.

 

Can I purchase tickets on the day of the tour?

YES!

Currently tickets are available online through Eventbrite. You can access our Eventbrite page through our website www.ncgardenclub.org. This online site will be closed on June 6, 2023 at midnight. Tickets may then be purchased in person at our Waveny House Ticket Booth, 677 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 8, 2023 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for $60 per ticket. Tickets are non-refundable. Your Tour Program will be your “entrance pass” for each garden and will need to be presented to the welcome table at the 4 private gardens.

 

What is your policy for inclement weather?

The Gardens in Bloom Garden Tour is rain or shine! Please plan accordingly. Many gardens are their most beautiful in the rain! Tickets are non-refundable.

 

Is this a self-guided tour?

Yes. Each garden is clearly marked on the town map in your Tour Program. A welcoming host and check-in table will be at each driveway in the private gardens. Knowledgeable docents will be in each garden to offer further guidance and answer questions.

 

How many gardens will I see?

There are four spectacular residential gardens on the tour as well as the gardens at historic Waveny House, which are one of New Canaan Garden Club’s major civic projects. The gardens at Waveny include the recently renovated Parterre, a Peony Walk and the iconic Walled Garden.

 

Where can I park?

Parking at Waveny House will be clearly marked as you enter the long driveway. Parking at the 4 private homes will be marked and there will be a policeman present to guide you. We do recommend carpooling if at all possible.

 

How accessible are the gardens?

All of the gardens vary in size and terrain. We recommend that you wear your most comfortable shoes. Please no high heels or strollers in the garden. We are sorry, the gardens are not wheel chair accessible.

 

Are children allowed?

Yes. Children age five and under are free and all older children must have a ticket. Any child 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that all 4 private gardens have swimming pools and if a young child accompanies you, it is your responsibility to keep your child safe. No strollers or baby carriages are allowed in the gardens.

 

Are pets allowed?

In consideration of our garden hosts please leave your dog at home. 

 

May I take photographs on the tour?

In consideration of the homeowners – no photographs are allowed.

 

Is this garden tour a fundraiser?

Yes! Proceeds from this event will go to fund our numerous civic projects which include the 3 gardens at Waveny, the stewardship of Irwin Park, the ongoing maintenance of the Colonial Herb Garden at the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society, Horticulture Therapy at Waveny Care Center. During the month of January, we provide floral arrangement for the common areas and the dining room at Waveny Care Center. We donate flowers from our personal gardens during the growing season to Meals on Wheels. We also provide the decorated Christmas trees for the Holiday Stroll which are donated to families who would otherwise go without a tree during the holidays. Also, we partner with the New Canaan Beautification League to create the wreaths and gnomes that decorate our town in December.

 

Why should I buy a ticket to the Preview Party on June 7th?

We are sorry but this event is now sold out.

What is the Conservation Corner?

This is not to be missed!! We have invited like-minded non-profit organizations to set up an information table for their organization at our event just outside the Waveny Walled Garden in the parking lot. We highly recommend visiting this area to learn more about the many organizations that support New Canaan’s open space, conservation efforts, our parks, nature, education and more.

 

Where can I have lunch?

New Canaan is home to many wonderful restaurants. There is a large variety for anyone’s taste buds. Just research New Canaan restaurants and choose what sounds wonderful to you!

 

Directions to Waveny House

Merritt Parkway (Route 15) north or south
Take exit 37 in New Canaan. Take a left at end of the exit ramp onto South Avenue (Route 124). Continue north approximately 1/4 mile, on left you will see stone pillars and Waveny Park sign at the driveway entrance to the park. Turn in and follow driveway up to Waveny House and the parking lots.

I-95 north or south
Take exit 13 and turn left at the end of the exit on to Post Road (Route 1). Continue to Darien until you see the Darien Firehouse (on left). Take a right turn at light (Route 124) and follow Route 124 to New Canaan. After you pass over the Merritt Parkway, continue north approximately 1/4 mile, on left you will see stone pillars and Waveny Park sign at the driveway entrance to the park. Turn in and follow driveway up to Waveny House and the parking lots.

I-84 east or west
In Danbury, take Route 7 South (Norwalk) exit. Continue on Route 7 south to Norwalk to intersection with the Merritt Parkway (Route 15). Take the Merritt Parkway south to exit 37 in New Canaan. Take a left at end of the exit ramp onto South Avenue (Route 124) and your next left you will see stone pillars and Waveny Park sign at the driveway entrance to the park. Turn in and follow driveway up to Waveny House and the parking lots.
