On a bright and sunny June 5th we held our second Gardens in Bloom Garden Tour. Building on the success of the first tour in 2023, more than 600 visitors toured four spectacular and varied private New Canaan gardens.
The festivities kicked off the night before the tour with a Preview Party to recognize our Corporate Sponsors and Patrons. Held at a member’s home the party featured an antique pick-up truck filled with flowers, a pool with bouncing balloons, a blue grass band and delicious food.
In addition to the gardens on tour day, attendees were also treated to four “Flower Flashes” created by local florists and designers at New Canaan’s Irwin Park. NCGC leads the stewardship efforts in Irwin Park and is currently working to eradicate the park of a very large infestation of invasives. Proceeds from Gardens in Bloom will support these efforts, as well as the club’s other Civic projects including maintaining the gardens at Waveny House and the Colonial Herb Garden at the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society, as well as our activities at Waveny Care Center including Horticultural Therapy.
