The Horticultural Therapy Program at Waveny Care Center was established in 1975 when Waveny opened. Trained volunteers, including several NCGC members, met weekly with residents to work on plant-related activities. Today, “Hort Therapy” is operated entirely by NCGC volunteers who meet eight times a year with two groups of residents arranging flowers for the dining room and creating plant-oriented projects for their rooms. Hort Therapy is a member favorite and is a fun and rewarding experience for all!
